In the beginning of July, one of my good friends reached out to me to let me know that her sister in law (named Marley) was looking to get family portraits taken. I had just completed my friend’s maternity shoot and Marley had seen the pictures and wanted to do a family shoot at Codorus State Park in Hanover, Pennsylvania. I had never heard of the location before. Another perk about being a photographer is being able to travel to new places and explore locations that are close to where you live that you didn’t even know existed. It was absolutely beautiful and I will definitely do shoots at Codorus in the future.
I had met Marley at my friend’s wedding a year prior, but hadn’t talked too much to her since then. I was excited to reconnect and capture beautiful images of her family (which included her husband, son and daughter). They even brought along their sweet doggy named Moo Moo. I didn’t know how Moo Moo was going to be with posing, but she stole the show and was quite a photogenic pup. Dogs (as well as all other pets) become such a huge part of your family. It was very evident that Miss Moo Moo is very loved.
One of the aspects of the photography business that Carly and I enjoy the most is connecting with people. When we get in the car together after each session, we leave feeling like we have gained a friendship. Marley and her family were so open and personable that it felt like I had known them for a long time when in reality, it was only the third time we had seen one another. People may forget what you did, people may forget what you said, but people will never forget how you made them feel. I left this family session feeling so comfortable and so fortunate and that is all thanks to Marley and her sweet family. Carly and I will always make sure that we leave our clients smiling. We will always leave sessions smiling as well because photography is and always will be a huge part of our daily happiness!
